Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best way to get in touch with you?

Email is the best way to get in touch with us but definitely feel free to call us 617-840-3198 if you prefer. We check and respond to our email once we are home for the day after all of our walks/visits. If you call during the day between 7-8pm, you will definitely get our voicemail, so please leave a detailed message and we will return your call as soon as we can. We know it is frustrating to always get someone's voicemail but we are dedicated to the safety and well being of the animals in our care so we do not take any phone calls during our visits. No matter how you contact us, we would love to speak with you further about our services, and will reach out to you within 24 hours.

Why do you customize services?

Pawsitive Dawg was created to provide customers with pet care services that meet human, canine, and feline needs.  Our company is committed to meeting your needs. We know that every animal is unique and needs different things to be happy so we want to be able to accommodate that to the best of our ability. Please feel free to call or email with your particular requests.

Is Pawsitive Dawg insured?

Yes, Pawsitive Dawg insured and bonded through Kennel Pro (Mourer-Foster Insurance Agency). All of our employees are fully bonded and insured as well. We are also required to carry worker's compensation insurance for our employees. We take this very seriously. This provides protection for you, your dog, and the dog walker/pet sitter.

Will my dog have the same dog walker/pet sitter each time?

Yes, we try our very best to always use the same dog walker/pet sitter whenever possible. You will have the opportunity to meet your dog walker/pet sitter during the Meet and Greet. A service fee of $15 will be added to your first visit. You will always have the opportunity to meet one of the owners as well. If you require more than one dog walker/pet sitter and would like to meet with all of them, the Meet and Greet will cost $15 per dog walker/pet sitter.

What happens if my dog walker/pet sitter is on vacation or out sick?

We have a back-up dog walking/pet sitting system in place. Every single client has an assigned back-up walker or walkers. If you would like to meet the back-up walker, we can arrange a Meet and Greet. A service fee of $15 will be added to your next bill.

Why don't you take dogs off leash?

We treat our clients' pets as if they are our own. Your pet's safety is our number one priority. There is just way too much risk involved with letting a dog run off leash. We do not want any dog getting into something he/she is not supposed to; running after a deer or another wild animal and getting lost; or getting into a fight with another off leash dog who is not part of the Pawsitive Dawg pack.

Do you offer pet sitting?

Yes, your dog or cat will stay at home while you are away and we will visit throughout the day to take care of your four-legged child. We require a minimum of three visits per day for dogs and a minimum of one visit per day for cats.

How can I be certain that someone came to visit as scheduled?

We use a scheduling software that automatically sends you an email with an update from the dog walker/pet sitter after the visit was completed. The Pet Care Manager (Angela) oversees all of the visits to make sure all is going well while you are away.

How many dogs will be walking with my dog?

We specialize in providing solo dog walks.  We will only walk your dog(s) unless you have specifically requested a social walk.

How do I pay for services?

For single-day or Paws-In-Demand clients, payment is due in full on the day of service. Payment is due in full on the last day of service for the week for multi-day clients. For example, if you booked Monday, Wednesday, Friday, payment is due on Friday. For pet sitting clients, payment is due on the first day of service. When booking around a holiday, a deposit of 25% of the balance may be required at the time of booking to secure your spot and payment is due in full one week prior to the first day of service. A $5 per week late charge will be assessed to the service that is not paid when it is due. There will be a $25 service charge for each returned check. You can pay online through our scheduling sofware (ACH, debit, or credit card) or by check. Please make checks out to Pawsitive Dawg.

What happens if I need to cancel a scheduled walk?

Please use the scheduling software to cancel services. In consideration of our Dog Walker and other clients, please give at least 24 hours notice when cancelling for daily dog walking services.

If you know you will not need a visit during the week, please try to give us as much notice as you can whenever possible. If you need to cancel services for the next day, please try to submit a request by 8pm the night before in order to prevent being charged fees. Pawsitive Dawg understands that emergencies happens so if you need to cancel last minute in the morning, please submit your request before 6am to prevent being charged for the visit. Any cancellation made between 6am-8am, will be charged 50% of the service and any cancellation made after 8am will be charged the full amount of the visit. In the case of weather related cancellations, please cancel before 8am in order to prevent being charged for the visit. Please give at least 48 hours when cancelling for pet sitting services.

Will you come in bad weather?

We will provide service in all types of weather. We understand that your pet relies on us so we will do our best to arrive at our regularly scheduled time. However, when there is inclement weather, there is a possibility that our services may be delayed, shortened, or cancelled.

Do you provide services on holidays?

We do not provide regular dog walking services on the following holidays: New Years Day, Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Years Eve. However, we provide pet sitting services on those holidays with limited availability so please request services at least a few weeks in advance to reserve your space. There is a $10 holiday fee per visit for any service scheduled on those days.

What do I need to leave out for the Dog Walker/Pet Sitter?

Please leave out a leash, collar, and any other walking tool you may use with your dog.  When it is raining, please leave out a towel so we can dry off your dog after the walk. For pet sitting clients, please supply enough food to last for the visit.

Do you know Pet First Aid and CPR?

Yes! The owners of Pawsitive Dawg are certified in Pet First Aid and CPR through the American Red Cross. All of our employees are required to take and pass a Pet First Aid and CPR certification training course and have been certified through Pro Pet Hero.
